Eric R. Bittner is a John and Rebecca Moores Professor of Chemistry at the University of Houston's Department of Chemistry.

He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from Valparaiso University in 1988, and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1994 under the direction of John C. Light. He was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin (1994-1996) and Stanford University (1986-1997). Notable accolades include an Early CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (1997) and a Guggenheim Fellowship for his work in the theory of Molecular electronics (2007).
