I had kept this list on my user page for several years but it became very long and made it difficult to save that page before timing out. So as of February 29, 2020, I moved the content of the section of my user page showing reports I have made to AIV and their dispositions, and a little text and a few statistics, to the initial AIV sub-page to my user page, User:Donner60/AIV Reports. I created this second sub-page for AIV reports because of difficulty saving changes to User:Donner60/AIV Reports page after additions for a few months. Again perhaps this was due to the increased length of that page or perhaps due to increased usage of Wikipedia during coronavirus shut downs. I have moved the 2019 reports and 2020 reports to date to this page to reduce the size of User:Donner60/AIV Reports and plan no more additions to that page. Further additions or changes concerning AIV Reports will be made on this page after the a June 27, 2020 revision to first AIV Report sub-page. Until otherwise noted, I also plan to keep the summary or introductory information, but not the dispositions, on my user page. Introductory paragraph to AIV Reports.
Summary edit
As of March 3, 2022 I have made distinct reports on 1721 vandals/disruptive users to AIV; so the user box on my user page shows 1720+.; 1693 resulted in blocks; (plus 1 user not blocked on my report but blocked by another administrator 2 days later); 1 no action after IP reported as sock, no further edits; 2 pending for several hours 2/26/20, 1 was not acted upon because page protection request was granted, 2 were deleted by non-administrators (January 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013) which was improper - See the issue discussed at [[Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Oshwah 2]]; 1 no action because warnings out of order and no vandalism after final warning (November 24, 2013), 8 no action taken during day-long, 9-hour and 7-hour notice board backlogs, then removed from list due to no further vandalism during backlog or as stale (September 5, 2014), (October 29, 2017), (June 29, 2018), (July 13, 2019) (November 1, 2020) (June 20, 2021); 4 no action because no vandalism after final warning; 5 no action because users had stopped (during high vandalism period; one stopped because the user was vandalizing a page for which my request for semi-protection was granted; 1 not blocked due to insufficient warnings; 3 stopped after four warnings plus 1 vandalism); 1 no action because administrator thought changing redirects to one-sentence articles was not vandalism, several prior warnings were by another user, another administrator blocked user 2 days later (this is the plus 1); 1 not blocked because not all diffs were current; 1 not blocked because arguably not vandalism; 3 not blocked because administrator decided to give one more chance due to promise to behave (one being an apparently very young user advised to wait until older before editing again; one after an additional warning).
I have made one report to AN/I which resulted in a user being indefinitely blocked due to a legal threat, January 5, 2021.
As of March 3, 2022, in a round number to one decimal place 98.5% of my reports resulted in blocks and as I recall from the notes above all the others were not declined but resulted in no blocks due to becoming stale or no further vandalism over a long period of time; a few were apparent mistakes. I have left many extra messages on user talk pages with further explanations and helpful Wikipedia page links. See User:Donner60/Welcomes. I occasionally will simply undo an edit which is merely wrong, with explanation, or, probably less often, add a clarification or a reference. Disruptive editing and other reasons for reverts are among reasons listed by Huggle and can harm articles as much or more than outright vandalism. I try not to use a vandalism template when a more accurate one should be used, but I should note that the first template warning concerning an edit not being constructive can be appropriate without being an outright accusation of vandalism. I do believe that reporting a user who has fewer than four plus one vandalisms (etc.) is almost always premature, especially if the user has no previous block or long history of vandalism barely evading blocks. I try to avoid Huggle false reports because of escalations of templates or failure to take into account an intervening block. I have added up to four manual warnings plus one vandalism before reporting a user to AIV when I see new vandalism after one block or prior warnings that are not recent. While I feel that I should add these thoughts because this has been a large (though not the only) area of my activity in recent years, this is not in direct response to anything directed to me, as I think a look at my talk page would show.
I started keeping this record to show to myself, if to no one else, that I was doing a proper job with AIV reports and that most of the refused blocks were for reasons other than a bad report. It may be superfluous to keep anything but the user box summary now but I am continuing this out of habit, I suppose, and perhaps it will be helpful in some respect in the future.
