Hello,

I work in construction consulting and have particular interests in areas of emerging construction technologies, green building, and alternative delivery methods.

I am new to Wikipedia.

Contributions to Wikipedia edit

NetPoint edit

I created an entry for NetPoint, a project management and scheduling application, so that it can be added to the List of project management software. The List of project management software seems to have an unintentional bias toward IT and similar types of "projects," meanwhile there are many project management software applications used in the construction industry that could improve this list by addition.

Disclosure: as an employee with PMA Consultants, I am affiliated with PMA Technologies, creator of the NetPoint software. I have taken care to ensure neutrality and welcome comments and modifications to improve the entry.

Graphical Path Method edit

For schedule logic NetPoint uses the Critical Path Method (CPM), the traditional mathematical algorithm for calculating project schedules, while also enabling users to calculate schedule paths using an alternative to CPM, the Graphical Path Method (GPM). GPM is distinct from CPM in a number of ways. A basic understanding of CPM, GPM, and their differences underpins the knowledge in applying these methods to planning and scheduling.

I also welcome contributions to improving this entry.

Edits/ Minor Contributions edit

  • Added BIM Wiki to external links on Building Information Modeling entry. This was since removed, possibly due to WP:ELNO #12, though in my humble opinion it seems it would pass the test of history, stability, and userbase.

Construction Software Applications edit

Here's a running list of other construction project management software applications that are not currently listed in Wikipedia:

  • Cascad-e
  • Aconex
  • Asta Powerproject
  • Autodesk Bluestreak

I wonder if there would be benefit to an entry of construction software applications/ technologies.

I would also like to add an entry for a List of Building Information Modeling Software Applications with a comparison matrix similar to that on the List of project management software
