Lemeul Royce (1753-1857) was an officer in the American Revolution, and is perhaps best noted for being the last surviving veteran from the war. Information about Lemuel Royce often remains unclear, but it is thought that he enlisted in the Continental Army in 1778 and was present at the Battle of Bennington. Lemuel was born in [[Mansfield, CT] in 1753. Lemuel died in 1857 at the age of 104. He is considered by some to be a symbol of old age in a time period when humans died relatively young.
