Yes, that is the photo that I was talking about. The US seems to be on a pouch or leather saddle bag of some type. the left hand of the soldier is pointed at it. There could be some logical explanation for it. I just thought that it was kind of strange, but during the confusion of battle there is no telling how he obtained a US pouch. My great grandfather fought at Petersburg and was paroled at Appamattox with what was left of the 44th Tennessee Inft. His name appears in the paroled rosters he was Powell Ayers.
