Hi, this is a placeholder.

Born in Southampton UK, I studied for my BSc in Biology at Imperial College London, leading a biodiversity expedition to Paraguay and a diving trip to Guernsey. Subsequently I earned a D.Phil (PhD) in the evolutionary biology of RNA viruses at Oxford. My thesis work on the evolutionary epidemiology of Hepatitis C virus was part of a group effort that won a 2010 Daiwa Adrian Prize for Anglo-Japanese scientific collaboration [1].

My academic interests include virology, virus evolution, genome evolution and bioinformatics.

I also sit on the board of Sotones, a nonprofit CIC co-operative record label distributed by state51 and a member of AIM, MCPS/PRS For Music, PPL and Cooperatives UK.

My other interests include international relations, cycling, sociology, sail training and scuba diving.

Cheers, Joe Parker (comrade_jo)
