"They (#1-ranked Connecticut) just looked so arrogant. We all noticed it. They looked at the name on the jersey. . . . Man, the game hasn't even been played yet, how do you assume you're going to win?" - George Mason's Lamar Butler, March 26th, 2006

"I don't give a shit if you beat Alabama. This is the Big East." - Boston College's Sean Marshall, March 19th, 2005, shouted in the direction of Milwaukee guard Ed McCants during the 1st half of B.C.'s 83-75 loss to Milwaukee in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The loss denied fourth-seeded B.C. their first Sweet 16 berth since 1994, and gave 12th seeded UWM their first ever.[1][2]

Before the NCAA Tournament years... a glimpse back into Milwaukee Panther hoops history: http://media.putfile.com/PMM

Hi! I like to follow college sports, particularly basketball and soccer. I love rooting for the under-rated, unappreciated underdog nearly all of the time. And there's nothing in sports that come's close on a regular basis to the underdog and cinderella stories one can find in NCAA Division I athletics... particularly March Madness. It's what makes college sports more entertaining than the pro's, IMO. My favorite college team is the Milwaukee Panthers of the always under-valued giant-killer Horizon League.

My thoughts on Milwaukee's best college b-ball team since Dwyane Wade left the city: UWM has really played like a 2 or 3 seed the past 2 years. It took a good #1-seed in Illinois to beat them in 2005's Sweet 16, and it's not like they weren't competitive in that game. This year, it took the national champs, and that Florida team was every bit as dominating in the championship game too. Milwaukee has fairly comfortably beaten 4, 5, and 6 seeds in the last two years. I think people should now be surprised if they lose to these types of teams.

Karen said... Maybe Tony Bennett? Yeah! Tuesday, April 01, 2008 5:40:00 PM

Reality said...

Umm... he said no to IU, so why would he come to MU?

Sam said...

On another note, where is the outrage from Crean backers? I know if I'd ponied up that kind of dough for his contract extension I'd be feeling a bit betrayed right now.

Reality said... No Shit.

Gene Frenkle said... Heath - never was successful on big stage

Reality said... You must have forgotten what it was like, but the Elite Eight says hi.

bigeast said... Who would you put on the list? Sean Miller? Tim Buckley? Tod Kowalcyzk?

Reality said... Tod Kowalcyzk? Maybe he should figure out how to beat Rob Jeter's B-team first.

lexmikeyschoobs said... What about keno davis? he is one of the hottest coaches in the country in a terrible conference.

Reality said... Huh? What world do you live in?!?! I guess you must consider the RPI #5 / Sagarin #4 Big East just an average conference, since the #8/#8 Valley is "terrible" in your world.

Zach said... plus i am really hoping for sean miller, he has taken a mediocre xavier program and put it on the map... look at the recruiting job he has done their with a school that has nothing to offer a recruit.

Reality said... Wow. No matter how young or old your age is, zach, it's definitely a higher number than your basketball IQ!

grzy6 said... chris lowery. southern illinois university. knows the midwest. successful at small school.

Reality said... BUT HE COULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE TOURNEY OUT OF SUCH A TERRIBLE CONFERENCE! J/K, great coach, would be a great choice, although his salary at SIU is $750,000 a year and most likely includes a hefty buyout. Also, re: what you wrote, you do realize Marquette is an even smaller school than SIU, right? By close to 10,000 students no less.
