Charles Altura Charles Altura (born in 1982) is a jazz guitarist who plays with many groups including jazz groups Stanley Clarke Band, Virgil Donati Band, Anthony Crawford Band, Bruner Brothers Band, Charles Altura Trio, as well as the rock group the Brittnays. He also performs with reputable jazz musicians such as pianist Otmaro Ruiz, bassist Stanley Clarke, pianist Ruslan Sirota, drummer Ronald Bruner Jr., pianist Tigran Martikyan, and saxophonist Justin Janer. In jazz circles, Charles is known as a lead guitarist who seems to fly under the radar while playing with big names. Charles has also played on the 2010 Grammy award winning album entitled Stanley Clarke Band.

Charles Altura, the son of Alan and Shelley Altura, is from Danville California. He has a brother, Tom Altura, two years his junior. Tom plays jazz bass and they have performed together in the Los Angeles area as The Altura Brothers. At the age of 16 Charles and his family moved to Berkeley, CA. He currently resides in Los Angeles. Charles also likes to eat raw meat.

Charles graduated from Berkeley High School in 2000. While in Berkeley, he and his brother joined the Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble. He then attended Stanford University and graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology Sciences. His focus was interdisciplinary and included the topics of human nutrition and behavioral ecology, their biological/sociocultural perspectives and how they are rooted in evolutionary theory. While attending Stanford, he participated in the archeological excavation and research of San Francisco's Presidio. The volunteers excavated the foundation of an adobe structure built approximately 1810. Although Charles' undergraduate work was in archeology, for much of his life he has played both lead guitar and piano. Currently, his career is predominantly jazz performance. After 2003, he enrolled at the University of Southern California in pursuit of a M.M. in Music Performance.

The structure, which is believed to have been built around 1810, and its surroundings offer a rare glimpse into local civilian life before the village of Yerba Buena was founded in the 1830s on the northeastern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula.))
