The Battle of Friedland was the decisive engagement of the War of the Fourth Coalition during the Napoleonic Wars between the French Grande Armée commanded by Napoleon I and a Russian Army commanded by Bennigsen. It was fought on 14 June 1807 at Friedland about 27 miles (43 km) southeast of Königsberg (present-day Kalingrad) in Eastern Prussia.
