Welcome to Wikipedia! edit

Dear BuickCenturyDriver: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). Rocky Roe edit

A tag has been placed on Rocky Roe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

Duplicate message edit

The duplicate was beacuse Rocky Roe was deleted almost immediately, and you simply recreated it. So I tagged it again. --Steve (Slf67) talk 07:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I changed it to a AFD, let's leave it to other to vote if this person is worthy of a page. BuickCenturyDriver 07:08, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
You should, however, ensure that the article itself contains evidence of notability, with verifiable sources. It will be judged on the actual content. Jimfbleak.talk.07:15, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello from Australia edit

I'm very well, thanks for asking. I hope 2007 is working out well for you! --Steve (Slf67) talk 04:36, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:EdMontague.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:EdMontague.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:07, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Stubs edit

Hi, thank you for trying to identifing the correct stub. However, please do not substitute stubs. For example in Retractable roof you just needed to add {{sports-stub}}. Also please do not leave {{stub}} on a page with a specific stub. For more information about stubs see WP:STUB and if you want to find an appropriate stub there is a list of them that makes it easier. I hope this helps. Ksbrowntalk 13:54, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

LOOSE ENDS edit

No, I created LOOSE ENDS by accident, it showed up as a new article on Vandal Proof recent changes. It must have been deleted just before I went to put the tag on it. It was created by User:Jacko13. According to the deletion log [1], it was deleted twice. Mr.Z-mantalk 23:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Indianapolis Colts edit

Well, judging from the vandalism it's been getting since the Colts won the Super Bowl, it was definitely going to be semi-protected. If you're ever unsure about page protection in the future, read WP:SEMI and other such protection policies. =) Nishkid64 02:44, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

We Love To Party edit edit

you added

"The band's title has nothing to do with the song "We Like to Party" by the "Venga Boys""

but...how the hell do you know what you are talking about? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nigzzzz (talkcontribs) .

Re: Baseball fan? edit

I am a baseball fan, as it happens ... a faithful Red Sox fan, from a tender age. The username is a cultural identifier, not a sportive one. I prepended "NewEngland," in fact, so that the Yankee monicker wouldn't be taken as referring to That Other Team. NewEnglandYankee 15:56, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Unsigned comment edit

It seems to be the typical Wiki "house style" when indefinitely blocking someone to remove everything else from their talk page and just post an unsigned "indefinite block" template.

Please don't create pages for attack usernames edit

How did you even know to find those name? I find this suspicious. pschemp | talk 02:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC) unblock|i thought tagging username as blocked was a good idea, but you seemed to be offeneded. I checked the block log.

No. I will unblock you. Please do not add tags like that. Those names get the {{usernameblocked}} already because it expands in the block message. Posting it to attack names and name with no edits is not neccessary. Also, we don't want to create pages for blocked users. Refrain from doing this from now on please. pschemp | talk 02:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

okay. still shocked at getting this despite an impeccable editing history. BuickCenturyDriver 02:33, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, it came up that you had created a page with the word "fuck" in it. That's why. We don't exactly mess around with pages like that.pschemp | talk 02:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
well, I learned my lesson and i'll have to carry a scar for the near future, but you might want to delete this. If it remains, I might start tagging again to run up my edit count. BuickCenturyDriver 02:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Some reading material for you: WP:DENY. And if you ever come up for adminship or the block causes problems in any way, contact me, and I'll be happy to explain. pschemp | talk 02:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I had that in mind and I appreciate you're effort in trying to rectify your action. This is a case where not only did you really earn your privilege (support from me), but my forgiveness too. All I need for you now, if you can, is undo the autoblock for me as I'm still resticted to editing only this page. BuickCenturyDriver 02:52, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Done. pschemp | talk 02:55, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Gomusic edit

I had actually meant to add the "ad" tag, but left it on per lack of any link after I did that. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 10:54, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Noob Afd edit

"!vote" is used in many Afds. It's generally used to signify that it isn't a vote per se. There's further details here. Thanks. One Night In Hackney 03:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Yankee vandalism edit

Huh? What? :) Xiner (talk, email) 03:16, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Resp: Oppose Self Nom edit

A self nomination is only a small reason for my oppose, I do not think that all people who nominate themselves cannot be trusted, and I never made that implication, you assume too much. It is true however, that if a relatively new user self-nominates, they have certainly not earned the support of the Wikipedia community as a nomination and/or Co-nom would show. To be recognized as a good admin potential and subsequently nominated, speaks highly of a candidate. Regards, Dfrg.msc 05:58, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Everyone has different standards, one of mine is 8+ months of activity, Natl1 fails by a half. Self-nom really shouldn't be as important as time on Wiki, EC and actual need for the tools, but is is a factor. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 06:37, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
No problems mate, I'm happy to explain. If you need anything else, just ask. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 06:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Really sorry for my late response, that's a good way of thinking. I think I'll wait until my first Wiki-birthday before I RfA. Yes, I am from Australia, Canberra more precisely, nice work. I can't discern as to where your from though. America is usually a safe bet though. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 10:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Your ? edit

Hey, what's up. Actually, my name has nothing to do with the computer: when I was a kid, my mathematician dad nicknamed me after the mathematical function delldot (it's written as an upside-down delta with a period after it). Dorky, or what? But plenty of people think it refers to the computer. In fact, I was thinking of changing it, since I hate to give out free advertizing of any kind (e.g. if my clothing has labels on it, I cut them off). But I hate to change my name, since I like it and people know me by it. Maybe I'll just change my signature to "delta dot". What do you think? Anyway, I ramble on. Thanks for the note! Peace, delldot | talk 14:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Sysop template edit

Heh, that looks pretty cool. How exactly would that deal with users who were promoted on their 2nd or 3rd or higher RfA? Nishkid64 18:04, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

My RFA edit

Thank you for your participation in the RFA and for your advice. I'll be around if you ever need anything!--Cúchullain t/c 21:02, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Natl1's RFA edit

Hello BuickCenturyDriver/Jan2007, thank you for the recent support in my recent RFA. However, even with your generous support the RFA did not succeed. I still hope to become a sysop in the future and have compiled a list of things to do before having another RFA.

1. Use edit summaries (I have enabled edit summary warnings) Grandmasterka, Jhfireboy

2. Mark edits as minor Jhfireboy

3. Not enough (2,000) edits for adminship Anthony.bradbury

4. 6 months of experience needed to become an admin. Nishkid64

5. Try more Wikipedia mainspace edits, policy edits, and Wikipedia article edits. Darthgriz98

6. Do not use fair use images in user namespace (sandboxes). MECU
