Overview edit

EEM (Enterprise Event Management) is the next evolution of, and the joint product of, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and MOM (Message-Oriented Middleware), among others. EEM is the next step in the evolution of information superiority. Agency and corporate data, and the events in the systems it travels through, can now be managed at a higher, more strategic level.

Enterprise Event Management is a common, event-based framework that correlates business data, the events around that business data, and the entire environment which that data exists within, in real-time. More than this, it takes into account how all events in the organization relate to each other by unifying and standardizing the way they are described (metadata). Event Management facilitates the construction of composite applications that utilize Information Intelligence to create functionality that no single system is capable of doing.

Identifying Characteristics edit

An EEM system, or solution (system of systems), includes components and functionality that involve:

SOA Architecture
• Works with existing and legacy systems
• Works with all data sources, regardless of schema
Cross-platform and scalable through inherent clustering
• Internal grid solution for powerful parallel distributed computing
• [[1]] representation of events
• Priority processing driven by event priority
• Prioritization by association event correlation
