Nantgwyllt was a Victorian-era estate and small farming community in a valley near the meeting of the Rivers Elan and Claerwen in Radnorshire, Wales. Its seclusion and beauty were celebrated by the poet Shelley. Between 1893 and 1904, the entire district was submerged by a system of dams and reservoirs designed by the Corporation of Birmingham[1] to provide a source of clean, safe water for the growing population of the city and its manufacturing industries.
