This is a WP:SPA which aims to remove as much listcruft as possible from Wikipedia. Unfortunately there are entrenched interests behind some of this stuff so getting rid of it is an uphill battle.
In fact I see that the wikipedia guideline on uphill battles suggests that I should simply walk away if no-one agrees with me. Leaving aside the assumption that a single individual can never be right, I would like to point out that my nominations almost always receive at least some degree of support.
