[1]Chakma Welfare Society, Police jointly rescued a minor Chakma boy
Last week, a joint team of Diyun Police and Chakma Welfare Society (CWS) rescued a 12-year-old minor boy identified as Rahul Chakma, s/o Rabijoy Chakma of Anandpur, Deban under Miao Circle with the help of Dola Police in Assam.
The boy was missing. He was rescued on 18 May 2018.
This is not the one off case. There have been reports of poor Chakma boys and girls being trafficked for various purposes including domestic helps, helpers at shops, etc. The traffickers/middlemen target poor families by luring them with money, free education, etc.
At times, the whereabouts of the children remained unknown and in many instances, they remain missing/out of contact with family members.
