or Austronesia refers to the homeland of Austronesian people . Austronesian people are groups of people who live in the southeast of Asia and Australia whose common feature is using Austronesian languages. Austronesian languge family consists of Indonesian, Malawian, Filipino, Maori, Malagasy, Hawaiian, Fijian, Formosan and one thousand more languages. Taiwan is the motherland of Austronesian languages.[1]

Austronesia comes from the Latin word "austrālis" which means "south". It can also be related to the greek word "νήσος"(nêsos) which means "island".

Today, Austronesi refers to the lands where Austronesian languages are spoken. So geographiacally speaking, Austronesi covers about half of the world. Austronesi is mostly th ocean and the oceanic islands. This region covers a vast land from Madagascar in the west to Easter island in the east. Austronesian region has three parts : Taiwan (Formosa), the sea area of southeast Asia and Austronesain Australia (Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia)13:30
