Formerly a developer of database management systems; latterly a member of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32/WG 3 "Database languages", the committee that drafts international standards for database language SQL, a nonrelational (and very bad!) language imo. Devotee of E.F. Codd's relational model and wish it had been implemented on a commercial scale.
Now a part-time university lecturer on relational database theory.
