Coach Alexander is the founder and head coach of No Fear Fencing Club (NFFC).  A club he founded in 1994. Since the beginning of NFFC, he has trained local, regional and national champions. He began his formal coaching career as coach at San Diego State University in 1980. In 1993 he became a coach for University of California San Diego’s (UCSD) NCAA fencing team. And in 1998 held the position of UCSD’s head coach. During his time at UCSD, he has produced several all Americans, as well as Intercollegiate Conference of Southern California (IFCSC) individual/team gold medalists.

Coach has competed internationally including world cups in Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Germany and Hungary. Coach Alexander is a 4 time USA World Championship Team member (2005, 2006, 2007, 2014). Coach Alexander continues to actively compete today.

Coach Alexander is also involved in the professional development of new coaches and has served as an executive board member of the United States Fencing Coaches Association. He currently participates in coaches training and is a USFCA certified examiner.

Training/competing in Germany

Coach Alexander’s competitive fencing career began in 1973 under the instruction of H. Okawa. He was SDSU team captain in 1976 and 1977, and a member of the 1976 Western Intercollegiate Fencing Conference (WIFC) foil and the 1977 WIFC epee team. He earned his first “A” rating in epee 1980 which he has continued to hold for over 30 years. Coach Alexander was a Division 1 NAC finalist in 1991, and many time USFA national championship semi-finalist. Between 1990 and 1995, he was on the division I national top 20 point list in epee. And during this time he was invited to, and competed in, the US Olympic Festival (1990, 1991, and 1995), earning silver and bronze medals. He is a four time gold medal, and six time silver medalist as the team captain and member of a Pacific Coast Sectional Championship epee team.
