Biography edit

Adelaide was born in Richmond, Virginia. Her father was a novice Dixeland trumpet player. As a child, Adelaide fell asleep listening to the sounds of Louis Armstrong and Maynard Ferguson. Her mother was from Mexico and favored Latin rhythms and young Adelaide was mesmerized by Sergio Mendez and Brazil '66. But her favorite music styles were the early sounds of Dixieland piano and the standards by the young singer, Barbara Streisand.

During her marriage, she really enlarged her repertoire when she began to perform recordings by Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, and Diana Krall. She developed a special love for tunes by Cole Porter and Jimmy Van Huesen. In 2006, she and her husband formed a swing dance band and began performing in the Washington, DC metro area. They soon recorded their first CD, Come Fly With Me One jazz critic wrote that "Adelaide's warm contralto voice was a great start to a promising career". But her career was short-lived. She said, "Like many women throughout history, I've sacrificed much of myself and desires to please others. These contributions are my attempt to find my voice."

She is also a teacher, writer, pastel artist and life long student of the humanities. She still lives in Wasghinton, DC.
