Mohrampur Jagir or Mohrampur Duchy was a feudal Estate of Raghuvanshi Rajput in Patna. They ruled over 432 villages on their estate, which covered 45 square kilometres (17.37 sq mi) area in the Patna District. They also held the Zamindari of Patna, Medinipur in West Bengal and Tajpur in North Bihar.

Jagirdars of Mohrampur like Raja Ranjit Singh Bahadur were renowned for their social and charity works. The Last Ruler of Mohrampur Maharani Sushila Sinha is married to Ram Kishore Sinha, a prince of Rajgarh State, Himachal Pradesh and descendent of the Zamindar of Dighwara Estate.

Mohrampur is situated in the vicinity of Bihta Town close to IIT Patna. It is 35 kilometre away from Patna Airport.

History Edit

The Mohrampur Jagir played an important role in the socio-economic and political history of Bihar Suba during the Mughal period. Mohrampur Estate was granted to Raja Mahendra Singh by the Subedar of Bihar in early 17th century for his services to Mughal Court. Raja Digvijay Singh extended the family estates through both annexation and partnership agreements and received the authority to collect revenues in various parganas like Sikandarpur and Amahra by the Mughals. He proved his allegiance to the Mughal court in Delhi during various battles involving the Marathas, pleasing Nawab Alivardi Khan and other Bengali subadars. He received many Jagir since the Jagir were transferable. It was made hereditary by the Permanent Settlement Act of 1793.
