Request edit edit

Request edit to alt text to match graphic "Red X" rather than saying "No" which is what it does now. Why? Because it is also used to note "false", "refused", "unreliable", etc. ~ R.T.G 00:58, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:CrossTemplate:Xmark – Swap the template name and the redirect to it. "Cross" is highly ambiguous (most often refers to this shape: ).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  16:42, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose that specific name but not opposing changing the name. The naming of these is symbol icons is always all over the place. There is a template called Template:X mark and I'm opposed to having templates with an almost exact name except for a space. We have Template:X mark big which is bigger and Template:Nay which is smaller. We also have Template:X mark-n and Template:N& which are of a different style. Not sure why we need so many x marks. --Gonnym (talk) 17:42, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • @Gonnym: Template:X mark was actually redundant, and is now just a wrapper for what is presently {{Cross}}, which is itself the result of previous mergers. Template:X mark should probably also be merged into it. It differs only in using black at slightly smaller size, and could be mass-replaced by {{cross|color=black|16}}, then be redirected. Or "X mark" itself might actually make a better final page name for the main template than "Xmark". The point of this RM is not to be the end of cleanup, but the restart of a new round of it.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  02:21, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • I could support merging those two with the end title being "X mark". --Gonnym (talk) 09:39, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @SMcCandlish: is the proposal to move the template to mainspace or did you mean Template:Xmark? Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:48, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
