Suggestions re linking to the RfC and dating the template

edit

I've taken the liberty of linking to the specific VPP RfC now that's it been archived. I get the impression from the way the template's worded that there might be an intent to use it following future RfCs too – should this be the case, I suggest that either new versions of the template be created accordingly, or that the RfC link be supplied as a variable parameter when calling the template.

It would probably also be helpful to configure the template so that it calculates and displays the actual G13 eligibility date, but implementing that in any way other than manually setting it by parameter is beyond my capabilities at the present. XAM2175 (T) 19:05, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You're right that the intent is to use it for future RfC's that set the same criteria; perhaps instead of making multiple template, or setting the link by parameter, we just create a list of all relevant RfC's in the docs?
For displaying the G13 eligibility date I think all we could do is add 5 years to the currently passed parameter; I don't think anything more complicated than that is possible. Does that sound reasonable to you? BilledMammal (talk) 19:13, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
On the first point, I do think that it's important that each invocation of the template have a specific link to the RfC that's applying the special procedures. Having a single list of links would be better than nothing, but not my first preference.
As to the second point, that would be fine. I'm thinking of it purely as a convenience that saves people having to add to the five years to every date themselves. XAM2175 (T) 19:33, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
