Question edit

Would it make any sense to omit the word "Trail" from the names? This would make the Template smaller on the page and is common practice. Examples include Template:Pennsylvania, which does not use the word "county" for all 67 PA counties and Template:Protected Areas of Pennsylvania, which does not use either "State Park" or "State Forest", just their names. One trail is a path, but I would leave that name complete. What do you think? Ruhrfisch 04:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed and changed. Dddstone 13:32, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cat edit

Category:Hiking trails in Pennsylvania should be moved to the include portion of the template. --J Clear 01:14, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Time for Trimming and Cleanup edit

I have found that this template and Template:Pennsylvania rail trails are getting inconsistent with a lot of overlap. In my bold opinion, a "hiking" trail implies foot-only travel for the majority of its distance. Therefore this template on Hiking Trails does not need to include items of obviously different uses like Perkiomen Trail that are already in the Rail Trails template anyway, and which are typically described as shared use or variations on that term. So I am going to clean up both templates to be sure that each trail article is listed in one or the other as appropriate. Also, places that have trails (such as state natural areas) don't need to be in either template, because those are for articles that are about specific trails. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 17:54, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Did the same for categories too. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 18:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
After the above efforts, if anyone is concerned about the several new red links in this template, I am planning to create articles for most if not all of those currently unserved trails. That may take several weeks or months after the date of this comment, time permitting. Thanks. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 00:02, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
