Replay and Years links edit

Last night I linked each year text to go the relevant VFL or AFL grand final like this: 1979:. My reasoning was that it seemed more convenient, especially when you want to explain the 2010 replay situation. Looking this morning at other navboxes, linking of years to season/game articles doesn't seem very common. I wonder if it's because it's a fair bit of work to do so, or if it's just to avoid overlinking.

Anyway, GPW reverted my changes, with the summary The 2003 Brownlow is done in this way, just leave it this way. If the reader wants to find out why theres two, they will go on the 2010 AFL Grand Final page. I disagree with this reasoning, as the 2003 Brownlow was a tie - 3 players shared the medal. That is different to this, Hayes and Pendlebury did not tie for the medal, they each won a medal in a different game. To reply to the second section of the comment... how many clicks will it take to get to the 2010 AFL Grand Final page if we don't link the years? I see that Jevansen just added 2010 Replay: to the list. I'd be happy with that, but why don't we link the years directly to the game articles? As I've said elsewhere, consistency is great - iff it is the best way, and not just "how we've always done it". We're here to improve things, not just make them the same.The-Pope (talk) 01:14, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
