Messed up Formatting

Try as I might, I cannot seem to get the lines to look right on the page. Look at the mess I made of Nerima Station. I imagine this has to do with the "first" parameter, as I really don't understand what it is for, how to use it, or how it works. Am I the only one having trouble with this?
