What is the point of now making a - in my opinion - artificial distinction between Franks Zappa albums and Mothers of Invention albums? Or should I say "Mother's" albums", or "Frank Zappa and the Mothers" albums? I think it should just all be lumped into a Frank Zappa records template, as it were a couple of months ago.--HJ 10:28, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree; the Mothers of Invention has become synonymous with Zappa's name anyway. This is just annoying.--Rochallor 17:58, October 28, 2006.

• Template:Mothers was created because Template:Frank Zappa was too large, and was taking up a lot of space on Frank Zappa-related pages, and was a bit of an eyesore. The new template was created in order to make the first template smaller. (Ibaranoff24 02:39, 13 December 2006 (UTC))

Compilations??

This edit puts some albums into the compilations category. I think it is a bad call. I think compilations should be those where the music is predominantly "recycled". But Joe's Domange and the Lost Episodes both contain original takes. So I think the compilation category should be hevaily reduced instead of expanded. Correct, technically some compilations are not compilations, because they contain unreleased material--Emdebe (talk) 14:27, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Live Albums?

"Guitar" and "The Yellow Shark" are both live albums. I fixed it

A few issues

Some of the albums are ordered in an odd way, for example the Baby Snakes album, which is live apart from the Baby Snakes track, is listed as a studio album, simply because it is a soundtrack it seems, and Tinseltown Rebellion is listed as a studio album too, even though only two of the tracks are studio cuts. Why is Bongo Fury listed as live then? It has more studio cuts than either.

Maybe there should be a section for soundtracks only?

Other than that, there is a lot of overlap in the post-humous releases and compilation categories, which needs to be sorted out, they seem very arbitrarily ordered now (Joe's Corsage is listed as a compilation, but Joe's Menage is a post-humous album?).

Burnt Weeny Sandwich is both an album by the Mothers and a 1970 film written and directed by Frank Zappa. While it is essentially a collection of home movie and concert clips of Zappa and the Mothers and runs about 20 minutes, it is still a film separate from the album (ironically, most of the music in the film soundtrack was from Uncle Meat). The film was only shown publically a few times and has been since been preserved in the UCLA film library. Since then, it has been screened publically on one or two occasions since Zappa's death. Copies of the film have cropped up on YouTube in the past, only to removed again by the Zappa Family Trust.
