The flag used by Macau in international sporting events prior to the December 1999 handover is the light blue municipal banner (Bandeira_do_Leal_Senado.svg)

I suggest making a "municipal" or "pre1999ioc" or "colonialsport" variant, if not altogether replace the "colonial" variant with the municipal flag. isagani (talk) 19:34, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Note the existence of {{Country flag IOC alias MAC}}, which is aware of the flag you're suggesting. Unfortunately, this template is not aware of it, so this request looks legitimate. But can you cite which existing pages is this a problem? Also, is there consensus for the change? Marking not done for now. Reopen if you have these details, thanks. — Andy W. - The only page that I thought needed the variant was 1999 Asian Winter Games, where

Macau) as a suitable measure. - isagani (talk) 11:10, 8 June 2016 (UTC) - I came here to ask for the same request, I can name at least two pages (and I think there are more) having this problem 1997 World Wushu Championships and 1999 World Wushu Championships and there won't be any consensus because we won't remove anything, this is just a new option to add this flag. It's already explained in the talk page why a change is necessary, (see above) so I'm requesting to change the line from
- | flag alias-colonial = Flag of Portugal.svg to | flag alias-colonial = Bandeira do Leal Senado.svg
