Hide the access date

We have a consensus that access dates for online copies of offline sources, while helpful as a comment in the source, should be hidden from the reader. While mailing lists are online sources posts have an "official" post date after which they typically don't change. Therefore, I believe the updated policy applies here as well. Could somebody who is competent to adapt the citation templates please do so? The idea is to keep the access date as a template parameter but remove the code that displays it. Thanks, --EnOreg (talk) 09:41, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Object. In that conversation, there was mention of the value of the date for when the content may change. There was also mention of content that was likely to become unavailable. I think mailing list content is more likely to be ephemeral than physical content, so do not see any consensus to remove the parameter from this template at this time. --Karnesky (talk) 13:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, let's have this discussion for newsgroups and mailing lists here. --EnOreg (talk) 13:37, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Consistency with other Citation templates

{{editprotected}}

Please replace the template with the Sandbox. The output doesn't change (see below), but COinS metadata is added, and consistency with other citation templates is future-proofed. Martin (Smith609 – Talk) 19:13, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

{{editprotected}}

Please replace

{{Citation/core/sandbox

with

{{Citation/core

at first line. The former is not protected. --fryed-peach (talk) 17:41, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

  Done The former was actually protected due to cascade protection of this template. Ruslik (talk) 19:13, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Centralised archival

{{editprotected}} A recent update to Template:Citation/core has made an improvement possible in the way that archive details are handled; please replace Template:Cite mailing list with the current sandbox, removing the sandbox notice.

The improvements are: better error handling (e.g. mark when archivedate specified but archiveurl blank); correction of punctuation and capitalisation; and centralising functionality to minimise future template drift. No change in appearance will be observed (except if 'Archived on' comes after a comma, in which case it will no longer be incorrectly capitalised). Examples are available at Template:Citation/testcases/archive (they will affect cite mailing list in the same way as they do Citation). Thanks, Martin (Smith609 – Talk) 13:53, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Problems with template

I am having trouble with this template. The url does not appear to be linked to the title. That is, I am not getting a clickable link as shown in the example - when using this template. Article in question is Lars Pearson. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -      Hydroxonium (talk) 05:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I figured out the problem. If the "archiveurl" and "archivedate" paramaters are included, but left blank, the link won't appear. -      Hydroxonium (talk) 05:10, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Updates

  • Update documentation to include undocumented parameters.
  • Fix IncludedWorkURL = archiveurl
  • Add OCLC et. al.
