Zebedee Nungak

Moved to mainspace by Ornithoptera (talk). Self-nominated at 00:10, 27 March 2022 (UTC).

  • . Excellent article on an important Inuit leader (living). Article is new enough (based on date moved into mainspace), lengthy, well sourced. Copyvio unlikely per Earwig. QPQ is done. Original hook captures essential points in Nungak's life — both his experience as the subject of the Eskimo Experiment and one of his major achievements. It is a little wordy, but is OK as is; have suggested simply striking "from his home" as that's implied, plus striking the president of the Makivik Corporation. Have also suggested some alternate hooks below but unless @Ornithoptera: is keen, suggest sticking to original hook minus words indicated above. (Also, ALT1 would require Nungak's quote to be added to the article.) (The ALT hooks below all correspond to facts cited in the article now; but if someone other than me would need to review and approve them.)
  • These are all wonderful hooks @Cielquiparle:! I'm not sure if I'm able to review them but I give you my blessing for whichever may go through. Ornithoptera (talk) 02:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your feedback,@Ornithoptera:. In that case I'm striking ALT0 and ALT3. Coming back to it today, I think it's clearer in ALT1 and ALT2 that Nungak was fighting on behalf of the Inuit and willing to spar with his opponents as needed. So we just need someone else — maybe one of the DYK admins — to approve one or both hooks. Cielquiparle (talk) 07:34, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Though, I would want to say, I'm not entirely sure if the experiment had an actual official name by the government. I think that the name was an informal one given to it after the fact rather than the official one. Since it contains a pejorative, we might want to just refer to it as an experiment? • OK. See ALT1b and ALT2b above. I've replaced "Eskimo Experiment" per Ornithoptera's comment...and then further reworded the reference to the "land claim" in ALT2b so that now it's clear 1) which side he was negotiating for; and 2) avoiding the language "first land claim" after all so there's no confusion about Canada vs. Alaska, etc. Cielquiparle (talk) 16:41, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
