Vivian Pinn edit

Dr Vivian Pinn in 2010

  • ... that Vivian Pinn (pictured), the former director of the NIH Office for Research on Women's Health, was the first African-American woman to head a pathology department in the United States?

Created by CGarn965 (talk). Nominated by Hildabast (talk) at 03:57, 19 March 2015 (UTC).

  • Created March 13 and nominated 6 days later. 11157 char long enough. "As a work of the U.S. federal government, the image is in the public domain." Hook 188 chars and verified in multiple sources. NPOV, though article could be more encyclopedic and less like an essay. But that criteria is outside DYK parameters. In line citations are mostly present. Have marked those that are missing. No close paraphrasing, though quite a few quotations. Well researched. Fascinating woman, thanks for the article! QPQ does not appear to be required nominator has not had 5 DYK noms. SusunW (talk) 23:22, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
  • I went ahead and added the missing citations. --Rosekelleher (talk) 16:16, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! It is indeed a collaborative effort! GTG SusunW (talk) 16:46, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
  • I have placed a tag on the page; it really needs a copyedit to bring it up to encyclopedic standards. Lines like "She was keenly aware of house calls by the family physician. After the doctor left, everyone always seemed to feel better, Pinn noticed. The career choice seemed natural to her" belong in a magazine feature, not an encyclopedia. • Excellent work, SusunW! I've taken the liberty of adding you to the creation credits. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 00:45, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
