Valentine Collins edit

Collins scored all his victories from a Bristol F.2b, a two-seat biplane.

  • Good job. You're on a roll. I see the same issues here as with the others: Citations, paragraphing and the tiny death section way below the photos, out of context with the rest of the text, in my view. Perhaps the image size of the memorial could be reduced. I was thinking of suggesting that of the Goring photo on the Curtis article too.--Ishtar456 (talk) 19:47, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Also the image has to tie into the hook. Somehow that plane needs to be mentioned and then you have to write (pictured) after it, other wise it doesn't fly.--Ishtar456 (talk) 19:52, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Good suggestions! You mentioned image size. Is there a way to alter the size of an image and still be able to use a caption? So far, I've only been successful in putting captions on photos in 3 circumstances: infobox, thumb size, and gallery. If I do a different size, there's no caption and the "framing" around the photo doesn't show up. I agree that the Arras Flying Services Memorial should be a little smaller, but I didn't know how to do it and still have a caption. Thank you. Anne (talk) 10:45, 27 March 2012 (UTC) I've changed the layout for Valentine Collins. It looks better to me, but see what you think. I moved Arras down to references. I moved gallery below death. I removed the roundel and separated military career into paragraphs. Anne (talk) 11:08, 27 March 2012 (UTC) If you prefer, I could put Arras directly below the plane photo. I think I've improved the hook, by describing who Collins is, and then mentioning the Bristol F.2b. Thank you. And I forgot to mention, liked the pun! Another question: Are the London Gazette and Edinburgh Gazette more accurately considered journal or newspapers? I've been putting the London Gazette in the journal template for citations and now I have to do the Edinburgh Gazette. Thank you. Anne (talk) 13:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

I think they are newspapers. A journal would be more of a professional publications like JAMA or The Lancet. Look what I did to the image of the memorial to decrease the size.--Ishtar456 (talk) 14:11, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I looked at the memorial and was letting you know that I had changed the size of the Göring and Rainham memorials just at the same time that you were contacting me, so we apparently had a little edit conflict! I agree. I think the photos look more proportional now. Thanks for changing the size of the Arras photo.Anne (talk) 15:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • When you have a chance, please take a look at ref #13. In the template for book, I put in the name of the article and the article's author. For some reason I have not been able to determine, the author's name is redlinked. Thank you. Anne (talk) 16:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Also, the name of Garrisson's article didn't show up. Anne (talk) 16:34, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Finished revising the citations for Valentine Collins. For #13, should I try a web citation instead of a book? Maybe that will solve the problem. Thank you. Anne (talk) 17:11, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Yes, it is a website so I did it and looks alright now.--Ishtar456 (talk) 19:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Ready to fly away. Hook looks good.--Ishtar456 (talk) 19:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC) Finished the citations for Vernon March. Went back to look at Valentine Collins #13 ref. So, it was a web template. Thank you. And you liked the revised hook. Excellent. Anne (talk) 12:45, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
