United States Lighthouse Society edit

5x expanded by DocumentError (talk). Self nominated at 05:53, 1 September 2014 (UTC).

Expanded x 5 on 1 September, nicely written, length is fine, cites sources. One thing to check is the use of the About page as a source. The supporting material is often on another page of that site, so it would be better to link to it directly. No close paraphrasing that I could find, except for "one of the largest and oldest lighthouse organizations in the world" from the The Lighthouse Encyclopedia, but it's hard to see how else to phrase this, so I think it's okay. Another issue is that I can't see the source for the hook. SlimVirgin (talk) 20:11, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I've fixed these two issues now (I think). DocumentError (talk) 19:32, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
It's actually not headquartered "in" the lighthouse, which is why I originally said "at." (It's headquartered in a building 5-meters away from the lighthouse that is part of the lighthouse grounds; specifically, the "Keeper's House" which was the residence of the lighthouse keeper. So it's true the USLHS is headquartered "AT" the lighthouse, but not "IN" the lighthouse.) DocumentError (talk) 19:25, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for making those fixes. The society is based in this house. Perhaps try ...
That's just a suggestion. If you prefer "at a lighthouse," that's fine by me too. SlimVirgin (talk) 20:42, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
"A lighthouse keeper's house" is a little less compelling but I'm fine either way and defer to you! DocumentError (talk) 21:32, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Hi DE, I have no preference, and it's your nomination, so you ought to choose. If you prefer the original – "... that the United States Lighthouse Society is headquartered at a lighthouse?" – that's fine (though in your shoes I would link lighthouse). SlimVirgin (talk) 21:57, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
OK, well in that case I'll got with "at a lighthouse" with the link as you suggested. Thanks! DocumentError (talk) 23:44, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
Okay, so I've added that at the top as the hook and struck the other two suggestions. This looks good to go. SlimVirgin (talk) 23:50, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
  • A lighthouse is certainly a novel place to site a headquarters. Depending on the novel, we might be able to say "that the United States Lighthouse Society is sited at To the Lighthouse"‍—‌citing appropriately, of course. EEng (talk) 14:28, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
