The Holocaust in Italy edit

Converted from a redirect by Turismond (talk). Nominated by Catrìona (talk) at 06:24, 26 September 2018 (UTC).

  • New enough, long enough, fully referenced. In view of the sensitivities, I am subjecting the hooks to a more rigorous test than usual:
    • Main hook: The criteria for the Righteous Among the Nations are very strict, and so the hook, while arguably correct, may cause some offence. Stricken.
    • ALT1: This is not correct, and not supported by the article, which says that he was prosecuted. Stricken.
    • ALT2: This is sort of correct, but the article explains it better, and it implies that Italy agreed to afterwards, which isn't really the case. Stricken.
    • ALT3 and ALT4: According to the figures presented, 16% not 20% perished. Also, as the article points out, what we meant by "Italian Jews" is uncertain here; the article talks (correctly) about Jewish people in Italy, many of whom were not Italian. Stricken.
How about:
Also: the prose badly needs the attention of a copy editor before it reaches the front page. In particular, "trialled" is used throughout the article, but it means a trial such as is used for a new medicine or procedure. You want "tried", which is about a legal trial.

@Hawkeye7: I have changed the three instances of trialled I found in the article to tried. As far as the copy edit goes, I fully agree. As you have probably guessed I'm not a native English speaker so my ability with English prose are strictly limited. Turismond (talk) 10:46, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
I have no objection to ALT6. Should I list the article with Guild of Copy Editors for a thorough copyedit? Catrìona (talk) 11:07, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
I think that would be a good idea.
Since I can't approve my own hook suggestions. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 11:26, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
  • . No objection to ALT6. criterion met per Hawkeye7. Eddie891 Talk Work 14:25, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Sorry for the delay as I wasn't sure whether Catrìona was planning to do this or not but I have now listed the article at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests for a copy edit. As I can't see any need for a particular rush I would suggest waiting until after this has been completed before putting the hook on the main page. Turismond (talk) 00:22, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
