Ovda Regio edit

3D view depicting the border between lowland plains on the right and Ovda Regio on the left. Different colours indicate how strongly the radar used to make this image is reflected.

  • ... that Ovda Regio (pictured) spans the Venusian equator?
  • alt1 ... that Ovda Regio (pictured) is Venus' largest crustal plateau?
  • alt2 ... that Venus' largest crustal plateau, Ovda Regio (pictured), hold clues in solving the planet's geodynamic puzzle?
  • alt3 ... that Ovda Regio (pictured), Venus' largest crustal plateau, covers an area of about 15,000,000 km2 (5,800,000 sq mi)?

5x expanded by Planetarysprotege (talk). Nominated by Graeme Bartlett (talk) at 20:34, 1 April 2015 (UTC).

  • Expanded more than 5 folds on 30 March and nominated the following day. Long enough. Good inline citations. Hook is interesting. Questions on hook's citations (see below). QPQ performed. Free images, one directly from JPL, two were own creations sourced from articles (but were not just directly copied from sources). No copyvio. I like alt3 the most. The followings are concerns that should be addressed:
    • The lead that talks about 15,000,000 km2 should also use the convert template
    • The inline citations for the fact that it was the largest and the size of the area must be right at the end of that sentence.
    • The URLs on all the citations should point the referenced articles, not just the sciencedirect or Wiley home page.
    • Can you quote where the 15,000,000 km2 comes from?

  • I have used the convert template, and added urls for the ones that just used the home pages. I will be checking where that 15000000 came from and putting on the correct cite att he correct point. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:49, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Hook alt3 sentence now has the citation on the end with a note about the area, which was calculated by the page writer. So all issues raised by Z22 are addressed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:45, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
  • The alt3 hook is verified based on the quote "Ovda Regio resides in the equatorial highland Aphrodite Terra and is Venus’ largest crustal plateau (approximately 6000 × 2500 km)" from the reference at that sentence. Other requirements have already been checked out. Good to go. Z22 (talk) 00:52, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
