General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Overall, the article meets all the criteria, being new enough, long enough, well-cited, and neutral, and QPQ is satisfied. I would prefer the main hook over the alt, but I have some slight concerns over both, as Alt1 seems vague and the main hook feels oddly phrased to me. Maybe highlighting that the event took place over a hundred years before it was "finally recognized" would help. JJonahJackalope (talk) 20:45, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
