Laid Back (album)

edit

Improved to Good Article status by Saginaw-hitchhiker (talk). Nominated by Captain Assassin! (talk) at 06:29, 22 January 2016 (UTC).

  • Passed GAN and nominated for DYK within allowed time. Prose length okay. QPQ done. Original hook doesn't make sense to me, the term isn't specific to being in the studio, and I've never it in that context before. Usually the term describes a person. It also has a grammatical error which causes it to not make sense. ALT2 isn't interesting, it's obvious that songs are recorded in a studio, whether it's one or 10 no one cares. ALT2 is the best option, and is actually interesting, albeit slightly longwinded. Go with ALT3.  — Calvin999 14:48, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Comment – The article has errors for the {{harvnb}} template used. Once clicked they do not take you to the book source. Please correct it. —IB [ Poke ] 12:09, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
  •  Done Harvard reference formatting fixed. Yoninah (talk) 19:41, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
  • I don't understand @Calvin999:'s objection to the first hook, which IMO is the best. The hook clearly states it was a "studio term" that Allman "coined". We're not writing a Wikipedia article about it, just citing it in a GA feature. I would like to promote the original hook. Yoninah (talk) 19:44, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
  • The first hook is the worst hook. And it is grammatically incorrect. I'm objecting to the promotion of the first hook. I reviewed this, and the nominator supplied multiple hooks, meaning that a choice was offered. I've picked one that I think is the best. That is the process. It really doesn't matter if you agree or not, as you are uninvolved and doesn't even affect you. There's no point supplying additional hooks if they aren't allowed for consideration.  — Calvin999 23:54, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Well what's the point otherwise? You only ever have or need one reviewer to sign off a DYK nom, nor have I asked for a second opinion. It's not an FLC or FAC where many people weigh in and support or oppose. There's really no point in my reviewing this if the hook that I approve out of a choice of three for me to choose from is not going to be respected. There's nothing even wrong with ALT3, and it is by far the most interesting (the only one in fact) so I really don't get why a mountain is being made out of a molehill here or what the issue even is.  — Calvin999 00:22, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Rewording the hook and proposing ALT0b. IMO this was the most interesting fact, so thought I'd have a stab at wording it better! Jolly Ω Janner 06:50, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT0b ... that Gregg Allman's album Laid Back was titled as an inside reference to a studio term that Allman coined for when a song needed to be more relaxed?
    • I still don't think it's very good or makes sense. It's too long-winded. I really don't get the issue here. The whole point of providing alternative hooks is so that the reviewer can pick from a choice if the original one is deemed not good enough. I've reviewed all of them and have picked ALT3, because that is by far the most interesting one. Plus, people can actually see the cover when they click on it on the main page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Calvin999 (talkcontribs)
  • ALT0b hook cited to offline source, otherwise it meets requirements. Rest of review per Aaron. sst(conjugate) 15:12, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Wow what a waste of my time.  — Calvin999 15:34, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
