George Bacon (CIA officer) edit

I exported 162 bytes of text from Special Activities Division on 30 August, then over-wrote it with the present 8,936 bytes of all-original work. Article is thoroughly cited, and depends upon reliable sources. Bacon is notable as one of the main participants in the Laotian Civil War, where he helped to train and lead a secret army of 30,000 Hmong guerrillas. This is a natural listing for Veterans Day of 11 November.

  • The page creator has more than 5 DYKs, so a QPQ should be submitted. Yoninah (talk) 00:39, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
    • My QPQ count was at four when this article was submitted. However, I am supplying Aero Flight 217 to satisfy the requirement.Georgejdorner (talk) 15:34, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
      • New enough (created 31 August), long enough ( 6523 characters). Fully referenced. Two questions. (1) If we don't know his date of birth, how do we know he was 29 and not 30? (2) I double-checked Venter 2010, p. 238, which says that he was the only American killed in Angola, but your primary source lists four of them. Hawkeye7 (talk) 23:01, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
        • One tiny change above, one big difference in meaning. I do believe I have addressed the issue of his age.
        • And I have to do some cross-checking on reference here, but I recall that Gerhart, Grillo, and Acker survived to undergo a very public trial. Bacon was the only American killed in action. Please allow me a bit of time to check, so I can straighten this out.Georgejdorner (talk) 00:53, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
          • It is all explained in the penultimate paragraph, just as my memory said.Georgejdorner (talk) 01:10, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
