Corn stew

edit
A corn stew
A corn stew
  • ... that mazamorra is a corn stew (example pictured) that has remained nearly unchanged throughout the course of human history in India?

Created by Northamerica1000 (talk). Self-nominated at 18:36, 11 December 2015 (UTC).

  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. Hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. Image is freely-licensed. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 15:06, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
    • The hook can't possibly be correct. Corn is new world and could only have been introduced to India after 1492. The course of human history in India is much older. The source for the hook is clearly using "Indian" to refer to the indigenous peoples of the Americas, not to the Indian subcontinent. Such a basic error casts doubt on the whole article. —David Eppstein (talk) 02:18, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
  • @David Eppstein: I have copy edited the article to correct this epic error. Content in the source is about South American native peoples. Here's an alt hook. North America1000 18:56, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that mazamorra is an historically old corn stew of the indigenous peoples in South America?
    • Article corrected and much improved; the new hook is interesting enough, short enough, and properly sourced. —David Eppstein (talk) 19:17, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
      • Post-promotion comment. The renamed image file points out a problem with the image: it is not clear whether there is any corn in it. The current listing of this hook in the DYK preparation area does not use the image, so no action is needed at this time, but this should be paid attention to if the preparation area hooks are rearranged to use a different image. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:27, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
