Chase Brown

  • ... that Canadian running back Chase Brown leads American college football with 1,208 rushing yards in 2022? Source: [1]

    • Comment: Depending on the date when this runs, the rushing total may need to be updated. Cbl62 (talk) 00:30, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
Brown's yardage total is now updated through October 29. Cbl62 (talk) 18:26, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: @Cbl62: Good article. Article is sourced, hook is interesting, and the QPQ is done. Approving. Onegreatjoke (talk) 13:39, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

  • I don't see how this meets "The hook should refer to established facts that are unlikely to change" from WP:DYKRULES#Content
@Roy Smith: I have a suggestion. The season ends on Nov 26 (i.e. in 26 days), at which time Smith's yardage total will be final. Perhaps we could simply hold off on promoting until then? Cbl62 (talk) 14:42, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
That makes sense to me (with a new hook written in the past tense). I'll leave it to the more experienced DYK folks to decide if that's going to work within the DYK framework. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:16, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
I could come up with an "alt" hook if needed, but a Canadian leading the American football ranks is unique. Cbl62 (talk) 17:22, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
I was only concerned about if it's OK to hold it up for a month. As long as nobody objects to that, I think we're fine to go after the end of the season. -- RoySmith (talk) 18:16, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
thanks. Cbl62 (talk) 18:46, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
  • Unpromoted per my talk page. A new hook is needed. SL93 (talk) 13:42, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
  • Indeed, Brown was passed on the last Saturday of the season for the national rushing title. Accordingly, I offer the following alt hook:
ALT1 ... that Canadian running back Chase Brown ranked second in American college football with 1,643 rushing yards in 2022? Source: here. Cbl62 (talk) 14:41, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
  • ALT1 verified. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:32, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
