This template is only for Capcom-designed entries in the Vs. (Versus) video game series. Due to the similarity of titles of other crossover fighting games involving Capcom properties, it is easy for the uninitiated to confuse them as part of this series. The following criteria is a set of principles to guide inclusion of games to the template {{Capcom's VS. series}}. This is not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception.
Usage edit
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:
{{Capcom's VS. series|state=collapsed}}will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar.{{Capcom's VS. series|state=expanded}}will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.
Criteria edit
| 1. | Capcom's Vs. series consists of eight installments if the Capcom vs. SNK games are included. These games does not include and should not be confused with the SNK-developed (SNK vs. Capcom) games as they are considered part of a different series.[1] |
| 2. | It is highly recommended to source controversial games in the following section for the sake of verifiability and placement on the template. X-Men: Children of the Atom (1994) and Marvel Super Heroes (1995) are regarded as games that lay the foundation for the start of the series.[2][3] |

...the crossovers that make up Capcoms VS series is what makes its already good fighting games great. First taking root in the 1994 release of the Marvel Comics licensed game X-Men: Children of the Atom which had Street Fighter's Akuma as a hidden playable character, the series really took off two years later when the arcade game X-Men vs. Street Figher was released.

The Capcom "Vs" series has been going for quite some time now, and has so far imbibed Marvel superheroes and SNK's distinctive arrangement of fighters, but this is the first time - some months after SNK's unfortunate demise - that the firm's characters have appeared on PlayStation.

The system hasn't changed much; it's more of a natural evolution from MvC2 or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom [...] Another editor agreed that there isn't a great deal novel here, but the game builds upon the Vs. series to make an overall great fighting package.
