Template:Australian cyclone season effects (cyclone)/doc

This template is for the cyclone statistics rows in the season effects table in each Australian region cyclone season article. The Australian region encompasses all areas south of the Equator between longitudes 90°E and 160°E. The regional specialised meteorological centres for the region are the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), and the Papua New Guinea National Weather Service (PNGNWS).

Usage

edit

Blank syntax

edit

Copy and paste the following blank syntax into the required location in the article:

{{Australian cyclone season effects (cyclone)|Name=|System active=|Single-day system=|Formation day=|Formation month=|Formation year=|Dissipation day=|Dissipation month=|Dissipation year=|Date tiebreak=|Category=|Winds=|Pressure=|Areas=|Damage prefix=|Damage=|Deaths prefix=|Deaths=|References=}}

Parameters

edit

This template takes the following parameters:

Parameter Permitted values Notes
Name Text The name of the cyclone
System active Yes or No Select Yes if the system is active at any intensity (including tropical low, tropical depression and tropical disturbance), and No otherwise
Single-day system Yes or No Select Yes if the system formed and dissipated on the same day in the UTC time zone, and No otherwise
Formation day Numerical values The day that the system formed, in the UTC time zone
Formation month Full month names The month that the system formed, in the UTC time zone
Formation year Numerical values The year that the system formed, in the UTC time zone
Dissipation day Numerical values The day that the system dissipated, in the UTC time zone
Dissipation month Full month names The month that the system dissipated, in the UTC time zone
Dissipation year Numerical values The year that the system dissipated, in the UTC time zone
Date tiebreak Single-digit positive integers This parameter is used to differentiate between systems that formed on the same day (for table sorting purposes). Enter 1 if the corresponding cyclone was the first system to form on a given day, enter 2 if this system was the second to form on the same day, and so on. This parameter will produce incorrect results for integers above 9.
Category DI or TD or TL or Disturbance or Depression or Low or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 The highest category reached by the system on the Australian tropical cyclone intensity scale. TL and Low should only be used in Australian region cyclone season articles, and DI, TD, Disturbance and Depression are only to be used in South Pacific cyclone season articles.
Winds Numerical values,
or Not specified
The highest sustained winds generated by the cyclone, measured in knots (kn)
Pressure Numerical values,
or Not specified
The minimum central barometric pressure generated by the cyclone, measured in hectopascals (hPa)
Areas Text The land areas affected by the system at any stage during its lifetime, regardless of intensity. The system is not required to make landfall to cause impacts on land areas (e.g. wind, rain, storm surge, beach erosion, etc.).
Damage prefix > or Used to indicate when the exact damage amount is unknown, but it is known to be greater than the value indicated
Damage Numerical values, or None or Unknown or Minor or Moderate or Major The total financial impact of the system, in US dollars. This includes direct damages, economic losses, etc.
Deaths prefix > or Used to indicate when the exact number of deaths is unknown, but it is known to be greater than the value indicated
Deaths Numerical values, or None The total number of fatalities caused by the system, whether direct or indirect
References Text References for the information contained in the table

Constructing the season effects table

edit

This template should be used in conjunction with the other templates which make up the season effects table. The correct order of placement is shown below:

{{Australian cyclone season effects (top)}}
{{Australian cyclone season effects (cyclone)}}
{{Australian cyclone season effects (bottom)}}

A new instance of this template (i.e. {{Australian cyclone season effects (cyclone)}}) should be added for each cyclone that forms during the season.
