Start date of publication edit

Does anyone know the exact start date of publication for the mag? The article orginally stated 1994 or some other non-sense. I know it was early 1980's and the link I've provided is the best I could find on the 'net. I was very suprised to find so little about that magazine. Rob 10:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Yourcomputer1992.jpg edit

Image:Yourcomputer1992.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Other info edit

  • Natalie Filatoff, LinkedIn, Editor, Your Computer magazine, Federal Publishing, 1984 – 1986 (2 years), In the 1980s special-interest electronics magazines such as Your Computer were hothouses of invention and creative problem solving. Managing Editor and computing genius Matt Whelan made Macs and PCs do what they weren’t yet capable of. I edited Your Computer with a mind to channeling Matt’s know-how and that of his talented cohorts, for the benefit of our readers. An ignorance of the finer points of computing, and a passion for the magazine format made me a good translator and communicator of the concepts involved.

When my employers discovered I could write in English as well as code – my first degree was in English Lit – they invited me to join the staff of Your Computer magazine, while continuing as a part-time programmer and PC support person for the company.

  • Yes certainly possible. There was only 30,000 copies made of issue 1. There was a big fire at the Your Computer office and all the issues they had there were destroyed. They even printed an advert requesting for people who had issues to send them in so they could be preserved.
