Talk:Yarmouth Airport

Latest comment: 10 years ago by BrownHairedGirl in topic Move?

Odd sentence edit

"It was a former international airport until Air Canada discontinued the service from Yarmouth to Halifax, Nova Scotia." does not make sense. Yarmouth to Halifax is not an international flight. Also the CBSA and the CFS both indicate that it still operates as an international airport/AOE and for aircraft with 110 passengers which is larger than a lot of GA airports with 15 passenger aircraft. Yarmouth AirportYarmouth International Airport

  • Per website (http://www.yarmouthairport.ca/), the airport is called Yarmouth International, and is operated by the Yarmouth International Airport Commission Blotto adrift (talk) 17:56, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Common versus official title change is not appropriate for a technical. Take it to RM if you care. Dicklyon (talk) 21:10, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment The website confirms the "International" part of the name but a web search seems to suggest Yarmouth Airport is still the WP:COMMONNAME (e.g., [1], [2], not exactly RS I know). This information page seems to think the name of the airport is Yarmouth Airport and the FBO is Yarmouth International Airport Corporation. Could support or oppose this, so I'll just leave this as a comment. benmoore 23:11, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - as above, the common name appears not to have changed. Airports quite often have "international" in the official name; but it is very rarely used in speaking, in sources, or here on wikipedia. Even the airport's own website URL drops it. --Rushton2010 (talk) 00:12, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose move until there is more compelling evidence that this new and less concise name is the common name. - WPGA2345 - 08:15, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. No reason to adopt the official name. No evidence supporting any other rationale, in fact the evidence presented so far all seems to back the current name. Andrewa (talk) 09:45, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, there is a difference between an international and non-international airport (customs, immigration), so I think it should be moved to its official name. Funandtrvl (talk) 21:28, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • Comment: This appears to be a personal opinion and contrary to policy. No change of vote. Andrewa (talk) 10:17, 4 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
