List of Champions

What about trying to extend the list with the the winning time? Is this information readily available?

2010 "Champions"

The article states that the context was suspended after the tragedy. So how come winners are listed? Had the first places already been decided and the unfortunate pair were now playing off for third place or something? I'll check the sources to see what the status of the winners is and amend if necessary. if no sources are found to confirm them winning, they'll be removed. Checked BBC, Helsingen Sanomat and ESPN (and an article from The Guardian. The tragedy happened during the men's final - there were 6 finalists, 4 of whom had left the sauna which just left Ladyzhenskiy and Kaukonen. As for the women's final, there is a YouTube video purporting to show it and that Michaela Butz won but that's just about it for the evidence, and given that the contest was suspended, officially there were no winners in 2010 and so the names have been removed. A case of conflicting evidence then. Heinola would, arguably, downplay the unpleasant fallout and hope the event would start up again soon (understandably, its a source of revenue). I'm not sure this is enough evidence to name champions. I can see how the ladies final would have been held before the mens but the organisers officially suspended the compo and so all results are void as far as their jurisdiction, and therefore the title(s). And I don't see how there could have been a male winner - unless he was the last one out that didn't get boiled...but the same applies re official recognition. So, what to do? Pöyhiä won the men's competition because he was the last one to leave the sauna unaided, as required by the rules. I've added a bit about this to the article from a source that explicitly states that Kaukonen and Ladyzhensky were disqualified and Pöyhiä became the winner. Ladyzhensky's death

As an eyewitness I would like to make the comment that the following sentence is not correct: "They were both rushed to the hospital but Ladyzhensky died en route."

Ladyzhensky has been treated on stage for more than 45 minutes. The sound of the artificial respiratory equipment was audible during that time. 15 minutes after the accident competitors who came from the back stage area reported already that Ladyzhensky was dead. I've reworded this part. Initial reports held that Ladyzhensky died on route (HS) or in the hospital (BBC), but this later article by HS supports your account. Prolog (talk) 18:09, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

See also, but no mention there

Currently, this article refers to 'List of unusual deaths' - but there, there's no mention of the 2010 sauna incident. So... is the 'see also' uncalled for or should this incident be added there? 80.146.191.155 (talk) 15:36, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

I don't think it is unusual for a person of this age to die in this kind of temperature. Also it is not unusual to die in a sauna. Originally sauna was a place of healing, so people with certain types of illnesses spent time there. Some of them died there. Also too much heat sometimes kills old people.
