Reference vs. advertisement edit

This page, coupled with vast number of other pages that were changed to point to this page, makes the reference look more like a campaign than an encyclopedia entry. Wikipedia should not be used as an advertising medium. Daniel Collins 20:15, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. I've toned it down some, but more work is needed. Blatantly slanted speech like that does not impress people. — Epastore (talk) 02:31, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Purpose section: References to celebrating products? edit

Why are does the purpose state celebrating "products...such as seafood, as well as marine life itself for aquariums, pets" and why so is this so prominently listed in the purpose section? United Nations publications about World Oceans Day, and other publications on this, are all about sustainability and preserving marine biodiversity and ecosystems http://www.un.org/Depts/los/reference_files/worldoceansday.htm Dgfunex (talk) 21:06, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
