Maps edit

Good article. I wonder whether maps of the period could be obtained, as most names, borders, etc, have changed since 1939, & the present maps show today's information. GrahamBould 09:56, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The second Map ist wrong. I tried to make a better map last year. (Image:Gdansk Bay Borderlines 1939 English.png) If You do not like my descriptions, There is a blank version too. The polish coastline was very much shorter in 1939 as it is today. (see also: Polish Corridor, btw. You can find a better map there too.)
As You can see, English is not my mother tongue. Thats the only reason, why I do not change this english articel. Greetings Masturbius (talk) 15:40, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
If You need a greater map, You will find it in image:Baltic Sea Borderlines 1939 blank.png. Masturbius (talk) 20:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Masturbius, I have made some very minor improvements, but the article was basically fine. One point - in the first map I cannot locate the vertical "|" symbols on the map. GrahamBould (talk) 20:43, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I do not know! I guess the first picture was made in the polish version. I think, this picture is ugly too! But it is not so wrong like the scond one, because there are no borderlines to see. If You compare the polish and the english version, You have to admit, that the german map is much more correctly. If You read the german discussion You will find the sentence: "German vs English: 1:0" I just want: "German vs everyone: 1:1", nothing else... We all should build a Wiki together. I allways want to make the best text, ever made in german, of course! But I do not want a "1:0"! Our Wiki should be good in every version or language! That's all, what I have to say in en.wiki.... Operation Worek edit

Operation Worek would be a better title phonetically in English. To brzmi lepiej. Consider changing it, and the sooner the better. It reads awkwardly (plan worek or plan bag/sack), and has a stupid sounding quality to it. Dr. Dan 22:35, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I thought there was some debate about 'plan' vs 'operation' some time ago about the Peking Plan, but I can't find it. I prefer operation too, so if there are no objection you can move both of them in a few days, I think.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:37, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Good because it just doesn't cut it in English, as it stands. I thought only administrators can change the main titles. While I'm at it, am I right that a regular contributor cannot add to a category like "Failed Assasins" or "Cities in XXX". Hitting the edit page does not allow an editor to make changes or additions. Not in my attempts to so so anyway. Dr. Dan 22:48, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Anybody can move articles, unless there is a redirect with the same name, that requires administrator to delete the redirect (which action in some cases can leads to accusations that one is abusing admin power... :>). As for categories, normal users can create them to, although nobody, even admins, cannot move them (some software issue, I think, more details at WP:CFD). However you don't add articles to the category by editing it (you can add descriptions and such), you add categories to the articles themselves. Does it answer your querry?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:53, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, quite well. But am I correct that one cannot change the main title of an article through the edit this page feature? Dr. Dan 03:53, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, nobody can do it. All users who have been registered for a few days can use the move option, though.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 08:52, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
