Book vs TV Series

There is a lot of content on this page that is different from or not found in the TV series. (Example: Jacobi did not appear misogynistic to me in the tv show) I haven't read the books (I have only seen the pilot), so can someone who knows both body of works intimately correct the information? Yea, there's actually multiple differences by my count, including:

(a) Lindsay Boxer appears to have the rank of "Inspector" and not "Lieutenant";
(b) Lindsay's ex Tom Mitchell is the Lieutenant;
(c) Warren Jacobi seems to have been Boxer's partner for a while now;
Not really a big deal though. The basic relationships seem to be intact. Boxer and Jacobi are partners. But instead of being new partners, they've been partners for a while. Boxer and Jacobi are both ranked "Inspector" instead of Lieutenant.
