WolseyWolsey (disambiguation) – Cardinal Thomas Wolsey seems far and away the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this term. He's dominant in Google searches, both general and Books. A Belgian mathematician, Laurence Wolsey, shows up a fair amount, but as an author rather than a subject, and it doesn't look like he has an article on the Dutch or French Wikipedias either. And while "derived from" isn't a PRIMARYTOPIC criterion, it's often considered nonetheless: in this case, the clothing company and Doctor Who character are named for the cardinal. I suspect this ship is as well. Relisted. Favonian (talk) 15:16, 3 April 2015 (UTC). --BDD (talk) 20:30, 25 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - we don't usually put surnames at baselines for one individual, and books don't just casually say "Wolsey" with no introduction. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:15, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - the article does not begin: "Thomas Wolsey or simply Wolsey to his mates ..." GregKaye 10:27, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Just to clarify, this would not entail a move of Thomas Wolsey. Surnames most associated with one person are commonly redirected to the person's article, which in turn doesn't get their surname only bolded, cf. Hegel, Hitler, Rossini, Shakespeare, et al. --BDD (talk) 13:38, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support There truly are no other significant Wolsey(s).E.M.Gregory (talk) 13:52, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per BDD. We *do* usually put a redirect for a surname at the baseline for one individual, when that individual is the primary topic for that surname.  — Amakuru (talk) 10:09, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • I should've noted this before: Cranmer is an especially similar case. --BDD (talk) 17:59, 3 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per BDD. olderwiser 20:29, 3 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. I agree that Cardinal Wolsey is the primary topic for Wolsey, so supporting per the examples already given of a surname redirecting to a specific individual (Churchill is another example). Egsan Bacon (talk) 18:59, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
