MERCK PHARMACEUTICALS TOXIC DUMPING edit

Rumour has it that Merck Corporation is about to be sued for dumping it's toxic waste into the Wissahickon Creek. Anyone else know about this?

  • Yes, they paid their fine by buying the land preservation rights to preserve Erdenheim Farm, a beautiful 300-some-acre colonial farm nearby, straddling Springfield and Whitemarsh Townships. The farm will remain undeveloped and a small part will become a walking trail. (I do not know how to sign off on this query reply.)

Start? edit

Who the heck rated this as start-class? This is B-class at least! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.2.214.33 (talk) 14:38, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Article Split edit

An article on Wissahickon Valley Park is a real omission for the Philadelphia area. Much of the information in this article applies to the WVP section of the creek. I'd like to split this article into two, any feedback before I do? -Justin (talk) 15:39, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is now an article "Wissahickon Valley Park" edit

Permits for Trail Use edit

I do not believe there are permits required to use many of the branching trails along the Wissahickon Creek other than the main trail, Forbidden Drive. I have been on group hikes there, and have hiked singly as well, and I know one of the Trail Ambassadors, volunteers who keep a watch on users of the park and help people out. I am a member of Friends of the Wissahickon, and their literature has never mentioned permits. However, some trails are marked as off limits to either bikes or horses. (Again, I do not understand how to sign this comment.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenfrench01 (talkcontribs) 02:55, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Another painting by Thomas Moran, "Along the Wissahickon" edit

The article now lists 3 paintings by Thomas Moran. Another painting by Moran, "Along the Wissahickon," has been used on a notecard by Veterans of Foreign Wars -- that's how I learned that the painting exists. Producers of reproductions of art also advertise this painting. Oaklandguy (talk) 16:20, 3 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
