Nonsense edit edit

Description of services in edit by 81.102.162.34 bears no relation to that described in the National Rail Timetable, or by the Merseyrail website. --RFBailey 17:42, 5 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Former stations edit

I'm not sure that the list of former stations should be included in this article. Apart from one (Warren), none are on lines which are part of the Wirral Line as understood today. I think a separate list of "Disused railway stations on the Wirral" or something similar should be created instead. --RFBailey 20:34, 2 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's feasible, I created it more out of recognition for the railway history of the borough, although while I guess they're not on lines considered part of the Wirral Line itself they are formed from branches off current lines, one reason I chose to add the ones I did rather than including stations on the West Kirby-Hooton Branch. Also there is still evidence of the track leading from Birkenhead North to the Liscard/Seacombe branch on current (though long unused) lines. I'd personally say they should stay however maybe a sub-division of the current "List of closed railway stations in Britain" could have a facility brought into it that divides stations into counties, therefore grouping disused Merseyside stations together? (Stuey 182 01:27, 4 April 2006 (UTC))Reply

If it helps there is already a list that includes closed stations on Merseyside "List of railway stations in Merseyside". Shrew 08:36, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stations Archive edit

This is an archive of the former list of stations which I have replaced with a new template. See the Northern Line (Merseyrail) page for discussion.

"Former stations" (again) edit

Following my earlier comments above (from over a year ago!), I have removed the list of "former stations" from the article. While they are definitely former railway stations situated on the Wirral Peninsula, none of them (save for West Kirby, which is of course still there), none of them are on the present-day Wirral Line, which is the subject of the article. I have pasted the list below, to possibly form the basis of a potential List of disused railway stations on the Wirral Peninsula article. For the purpose of this article, they are off-topic. --RFBailey 19:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect labeling edit

Sorry about this, but I'm a bit of a noob at editing. Its only a small error, so if someone can get around to fixing it (as I don't know how to edit captions) then that's groovy. Anyway, the picture at the top is labelled as a train at liverpool central. Its actually Moorfields Station, which I know as I have gone through there every weekend for years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.234.111.79 (talk) 21:13, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you view the full sized image, the signs clearly say 'Liverpool Central'. Moorfields and Central do look very similar though, so it's an easy mistake to make. Raywil (talk) 21:48, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

edit

Before being bold I thought I would check here to see if others thought it would be appropriate to add the Merseyrail logo to the infobox. To me the Wirral Line and Merseyrail go hand in hand so it would be appropriate to have the logo for identification per WP:NFCI. Any thoughts? Raywil (talk) 22:35, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Added -Decided to just go ahead with it. Also turns out the logo is in the public domain so unlike File:Merseyrail logo.svg can be used on any page without restrictions. Raywil (talk) 00:54, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Incidents edit

Am I alone in thinking that the "Incidents" section includes a quite excessive amount of minor detail, as a proportion of the article as a whole, and compared with other railway line articles? I think some of these incidents are so minor as not to be worth mentioning (e.g. a derailment inside the depot), and at any rate I think all of them ought to be described more briefly. Alarics (talk) 10:15, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

You're not alone. However, Wikipedia:Notability (railway incidents) has not yet achieved consensus for acceptance, and, it seems, may never do. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:57, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh dear. Well, let us just use our common sense and hope for the best. I will prune some of it. Alarics (talk) 16:15, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:Attached KML/Wirral line edit

Can somebody create Template:Attached KML/Wirral line ? 92.71.60.62 (talk) 15:22, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

What does that mean? What does Template:Wirral Line diagram not cover? Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 16:04, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
KML is the geographical data that can be used to create an interactive map. Have a look at M53 motorway, top right corner, you have a little icon labelled "Route map", you can zoom in, see all the other landmarks, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.60.62 (talk) 16:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
