I'm concerned that the recent addition of the section "Orchard Parties" to the Williamson, New York page may not be consistent with the tone of the rest of the article. Would the responsible contributor (unnamed) consider modifying the section to match the rest of the content?

They're not. I grew up in Williamson and there are nothing BUT orchards in the town, so the only place where teens can go to party unsupervised are in the orchards. Typically, the post-teens mentioned are adults still participating in their teenhoods; they are not the parents or adults who would be perceived as acting in a parental capacity. This partyinging is no different than what takes place amongst teens all over: in urban and suburban areas it happens in parking lots or someone's family room; in rural areas it occurs outdoors weather permitting.
I see someone added a qualifier (unfortunately an unidentified someone). It actually brings up a topic worth mentioning: that Williamson was dry until a few years ago. I suggest the Orchard Parties suggestion be removed, however, adding some history of temperance in the town would be a valid and interesting addition. Jim Dunning 23:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I guess I'll also add that the observation that "wide spread drinking is not as common as in other neighboring" towns is not accurate. The alcohol consumption rate is likely no different in Sodus and Williamson (afterall, Williamsonians need drive only 15 minutes to purchase beer, wine and liquor); the town didn't prohibit consumption, only sales. The only effect that liquor prohibition had on the town was the type of businesses that were permitted within town lines. While the town fathers were successful in keeping bars and their perceived negative effects out, they were also effective in keeping competitive restaurants out.
